What's really going on in our classrooms?
Some parents share their stories
“My 9th grader was texting me about a highly inappropriate “presentation” in her class. She explained that there were three older students standing in the front of the classroom, one of whom was wearing a robe and pajamas. They went around the class asking each student to “guess” their sexuality”.
“I don’t know what Critical Race Theory. I don’t like some of this Diversity Training, but what can I do?”
“My 6th grader came to me multiple times feeling guilty about stories and lessons he has heard or read in school. Due to Covid and virtual learning, I learned why.
There has been a deliberate attempt to counter my parenting goals by introducing guilt and shame. This Critical Theory technique has taken a precedent over quality instruction. To add, the school is priding themselves on social and emotional learning as well. It’s like getting beat up and the person who made you bleed is the same one giving you the band-aid. They are emotionally damaging children.”
“I thought Equity meant fair treatment for all. I don’t know what Critical RaceTheory is. don’t know if my district has started Equity Teams. I vote, and read up on Board of Education members at voting time. I would like to be more involved, but I’m a single, working parent. I need this information to come to me.”
